Dr. Nyukuri is a researcher specializing in Environmental Governance, Climate Resilience, and Natural Resource Conflicts at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP) – University of Nairobi. With close to a decade of experience at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), she has been actively involved in multidisciplinary research, focusing on environmental governance and policy, climate change, and food security. Currently, Dr. Nyukuri serves as a program committee member of the Leading Integrated Research Agenda for Africa, 2030, and a member of the Horn of Africa Climate Security Working Group. She is also a reviewer and evaluator for various international organizations and universities in matters related to environmental governance in the Horn of Africa. Through her research and teaching, she continues to influence policy in her field. Dr. Nyukuri has a Ph.D. in International Development Policy and Practice from The Open University (UK) and a Master’s Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Khisa is a circular economy expert who specializes in developing and implementing resource use efficiency and pollution prevention strategies. He is experienced in leading circular economy projects including resource recovery, the extension of resource use, and the reduction of disposal through strengthened resource sharing and reuse. Additionally, he is dedicated to supporting product design for durability, reparability, upgradability, and recycling, in order to promote sustainable business practices. Dr. Khisa’s ultimate goal is to enable Kenyan businesses to abandon the wasteful linear economy and instead embrace the resource-efficient circular economy. He has collaborated with the Technical University of Denmark to pilot a successful 3-year project aimed at developing mutually profitable links between companies through the identification of unused/ underutilized resources. This project has paved the way for the development of an Eco-Industrial Park framework in Kenya, which will promote low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive industrial zones. Dr. Khisa holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy from the University of Nairobi.
Evans is the Principal Consultant and co-founder of DaleAgro. He brings over 20 years of experience in international development research and practices to the firm. Evans has worked in non-governmental organizations, academia, and grantmaking as well as private consulting and advisory services in the fields of sustainable energy, climate change, and the green economy. Evans coordinated a multi-million-dollar, multi-country cross-continental portfolio of climate-resilient development projects while serving as a senior programme specialist at Canada’s International Development Research Centre for over ten years. As an independent consultant, he helped clients develop organizational strategies as well as integrate sustainability in transportation and healthcare infrastructure. He has also developed policies and strategies for clean cooking solutions and helped clients to co-design locally-relevant climate-resilient interventions in health, human security, and food systems with wide experience in East, South, and West Africa and South Asia. Evans has consulted for institutions including UNEP, GIZ, AfDB, and WHO among others. He serves on various advisory boards and technical working groups. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental science and an MBA in strategic management.
Lydia is a climate finance and sustainability expert passionate about Climate Change and Sustainability issues. She was part of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) Sustainable Finance Initiatives (SFI) working group that developed the Sustainable Finance Guidelines for Kenyan Banks. Lydia has vast experience in banking, Green, Climate, and Sustainable Finance, development of Sustainability and Climate risk strategies and Reporting, Fundraising, SMEs, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building for public and private sectors. As a Climate Finance Expert, she has been involved in various climate/green financing projects among them; Africa Green Finance Coalition (AGFC), Climate Policy Initiative (CPI)-Landscape of Climate Finance flows in Kenya, International Trade Centre(ITC)- Green to Compete Hub-Green Finance Study for SMEs in Kenya, FSD Kenya- Landscape Study of Financing green in Kenya, Trade Mark East Africa- Mobilizing the Green Transport and Logistics Corridor Strategy and review of IPCC Synthesis reports. She worked in the banking industry for six years, where she successfully raised over US30 million in equity and debt for an SME bank in Kenya in her role as Head of Corporate Finance. She also worked in the insurance industry for eight years in senior finance roles.
Marlon is an energy transitions specialist, with a focus on clean cooking energy systems and a passion for creating sustainable energy solutions. Marlon has spent the past 5 years helping clients transition toward a more sustainable and efficient energy system. He specializes in analyzing energy data, conducting research on renewable energy sources and technologies, assessing the feasibility of energy projects, and developing strategies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Marlon has collaborated with clients in various sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation, to design and implement energy solutions that align with their needs and goals. He is passionate about finding innovative solutions that not only benefit the environment but also deliver significant cost savings for his clients. Marlon holds a Bachelor of Arts-Geography and Environmental Studies and Peace and Armed Conflict and Peace Studies from the University of Nairobi.
Zachary is a GRI-certified Sustainability expert with over ten years of technical and managerial experience embedding sustainability and climate resilience in various business sectors and programs across Africa. He is passionate about helping businesses and development programs unlock their potential to contribute toward green and just societies while making profits and exceeding intended program impacts respectively. Zachary has an MSc in Environment and Development Economics from the London School of Economics.
